Le Petit Wolof

Five years ago, I started entering each and every Wolof word and phrase which I came across onto all my high-tech appliances (cell phones, MP3 players, iPod video, even my Chinese electronic dictionary Besta contains Wolof stuff). Having them always handy was perfect to learn some vocab while standing in never ending queue lines or sitting on trains. But I became sick and tired of having only parts of vocab here and there, all scattered all over my high-tech world. Not to mention the files located on my PC.

A few months ago, I started to do what millions of people on the planet do : wasting their precious time blogging. So it didn’t take long to set up a new blog exclusively dedicated to the Wolof language, Senegal and Africa : Le Petit Wolof. At first, I meant to do it only for my own use. Then, I decided to share it with you.

On the other hand, due to the extreme difficulties for Senegal citizens to get a tourist visa to tour Europe or the USA etc. Air Internet is the carrier of choice for taking them to many beautiful places at no cost.

Le Petit Wolof, c’est ce que je fais depuis 5 ans sur mon portable, mon iPod vidéo et mes MP3 players. Les phrases en wolof et leurs traductions sont éparpillées un peu partout dans mes gadgets high-tech. Je voulais les rassembler sur un site, rien que pour moi. C’est alors que je me suis dis : Pourquoi ne pas en faire profiter les autres?

De plus, les gens que je connais au Sénégal ne pouvant pas voyager à cause de Miss Visa qui fait toujours la grimace (comme si ce n’était déjà pas assez difficile de réunir l’argent pour le billet, le séjour et, éventuellement, quelques cadeaux pour la famille), je les emmènerai donc en balade par Air Internet, en attendant les vrais billets ALLER-RETOUR.
